Dr T.KALAIMANI, born in 1956 from Chidambaram, Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu state, in the Teaching family having a great affinity towards Agriculture. This affinity gathered around his ability to learn transformed his desire into a passion to distinguish himself at the helm in the field of Agriculture.
The outstanding performance in under graduate which earned him a basic knowledge in Agriculture and under graduation in Annamalai University. He completed his Post graduation and Doctor of Philosophy in Tamil Nadu Agricultural University with a commitment to serve the farming community.
He involved himself in the art of Teaching in AC & RI, Madurai and AC &RI,Killikulam. A great teacher should teach the students the desire to learn. He did the same as a result most of his students distinguished not only in Agriculture but also in many fields like IAS, IPS, IFS etc. He taught many courses both for UG and PG with commitment and concentration and guided few students for M.Sc. and Ph.D. Programmes.
His research capacities were tapped for the past 38 years. He extended the tendons of contribution in different angles, with a moto of enriching to the farming community. He is an eye opener to the researcher, students for further research. His findings were aired in 80 scientific articles,75 popular articles, 15 Technical bulletins and nine symposium papers. Most of his findings were incorporated in the crop production manual and released as management technologies for benefiting the extension personnel’s and farmers.
“The journey of thousand miles starts with a single step”. This was proved when he entered in to the door step of the Farmers. The dry district of pudukkottai becomes ever green, due to technological intervention by Dr.T.Kalaimani He was instrumental in establishing a new arena after Thane Cyclonic Strom at Vegetable Research Station, Palur and offered different trainings covering all the farmers in the state.
I had awarded the PSG Ganga Naidu Medal for sugarcane by MASU, during 2001.Fellow of Indian Society of Plant Pathologists (FSPP) by Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana during the year 2004.Fellow of Indian Society of Mycology and Plant Pathology (FISMPP) by Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi during the year 2005.I acted as the Zonal President (South Zone) of Indian Phytopathological Society, during the year 2005and Gold Medal Certificate for the best papers presented during the 36th Annual Convention of SISSTA held at Chennai in September 2004 in section “Sugarcane”.
